The best 5 Lyon Instagram spots you need to visit in Spring!
Lyon offers many great activities and spots to visit, like shopping, trying out local pastries, having lunch in a traditional «bouchon» and exploring museums. But what we love the most, especially during spring, is taking some time to wander through the city. Here are the best Lyon Instagram spots where you can have the best time strolling along the river, taking beautiful photos, gaze at the multiple flower species or admiring the architecture of the buildings.
#1 The Rhône riverbanks
There is no a better place than the banks on the river Rhône to take a stroll, lay on the grass or watch the boats with the background sound of cicadas. From the riverbanks you will also have a perfect view over the Fourvière Cathedral and Grand Hotel-Dieu building, once a hospital, today a prestige shopping center in the heart of the Presqu’île district, with shops, cafés, luxury hotel, and peaceful courtyards to sit, chat or read.
#2 Tête d’Or Park
Did you know that Lyon city is being compared to New York and that the Tête d’Or Park is Lyon’s kind of Central Park? If you take a stroll straight to the North along the Rhône River banks, you’ll reach the large golden doors of the Tête d’Or Park. It’s a big park, so take your time to enjoy it. Make sure to wander along the lake, enjoy a beautiful sunset and visit the green houses which were constructed in 1880 and are listed as Historical Monuments.
#3 Saint Georges district
Such a peaceful neighborhood, it looks like a small village in a big city! Saint Georges is a Renaissance district and one of the three boroughs that constitute “Le Vieux Lyon”, the Old Lyon which is under the UNESCO World Heritage site. You can admire the Renaissance architecture from the Saône river banks before getting lost in the Saint Georges narrow and colorful streets!

Take a walk along the banks of the Saône river, the second river that runs through Lyon and head to the North. In a case you find yourself in Lyon over the weekend, make sure to visit the book market. Every Saturday, at “Le Quai de la Pêcherie”, one of the best book markets in the city take place. 21 stands held by local second-hand booksellers are selling antique books, postcards and many other things.

You haven’t been in Lyon if you haven’t visited the Basilica of Fourvière on its hill, overlooking the whole city of Lyon. If you are up for a challenge, you can take the stairs in Old Lyon and climb to the Fourvière Hill, or save your energy by taking the Saint-Just funicular.
