Since then it’s been a place where locals just like tourists like to meet for a coffee in the afternoon or a beer at night. Salzburg’s most impressive landmark in the middle of the city just can’t be missed. The best way to explore it is to take the cable car up, be amazed by the view over the city and then walk through the grounds. To get back down you can either take the cable car or simply walk down the steep road, which is a trip well worth it. And you might as well stop at the Stieglkeller for a beer or two on the way down.
