Christmas Markets and Festive Fairs in London
When the air is filled with the aromas of sweet roasted almonds, pretzels, baked apples, gingerbread, mulled wine and bratwurst! When Christmas music is playing, and when everything is festively decorated, then it’s time to visit a London Christmas Market!
London Christmas Market 1: Winter Wonderland
One of the most charming Christmas markets in London is the “Winter Wonderland” located in Hyde Park. It contains the largest attraction in the UK with real ice and snow – the Giant Wheel, a circus, the ice rink and the “Bar Ice”. There are many festive stalls with accessories, clothing, jewellery and handmade gifts. You can also find restaurants and bars with a great selection of food and drinks. Interestingly, there’s a place called the Famous Bavarian Village where you can find German food, beer and live bands in an authentic nice atmosphere. You also have the possibility to meet Santa and his elves in his grotto in Santa Land.
London Christmas Market 2: Southbank Centre
Another London Christmas market you can enter for free is the “Southbank Centre Winter Market”. It’s situated along the riverbank all the way into Southbank Centre. The best way to get there is via tube to Embankment Underground Station. The market has many wooden chalets offering unique gifts. It also has German food and drinks. It has been called the “Real Food Christmas Market” and offers delicious traditional and non-traditional food.
London Christmas Market 3: Christmas at Kew
“Christmas at Kew” is a Christmas market that is absolutely worth seeing. As twilight falls and the doors open to the market, you will find everything shimmering and sparkling. This London Christmas market includes many food and drink stalls, as well as a Tunnel of Lights, a garden of fire, vintage rides and Santa’s Snowflake Grotto where you can meet Santa! From the end of November until beginning of January you can enjoy the atmosphere in the beautifully illuminated Kew Gardens.
