A Guide for Foodies
A vegan diet has many benefits: both for our health and the environment. More and more people are trying to reduce their consumption of animal products, or they’re going completely vegan.
So, when you find yourself in the beautiful city of Munich, you might be wondering: Are vegan restaurants in Munich worth it? Is Munich a good fit for vegans?
The answer to these questions is: absolutely!
Many restaurants and cafés in Munich are keeping up with people’s various food choices and are offering plenty vegan options. Plus, you’ll also find some amazing restaurants in the city which are 100% vegan.
Doctor Drooly: Napolitan pizza with a twist
This 100% vegan pizzeria offers you all the Italian classics in a variety of versions: from popular Margherita to fancy creations, and… completely meat-free!
Dr. Drooly uses high-quality vegan products similar to goodies like mozzarella, salami and gorgonzola.
Bodhi: Bavarian Wirtshaus | 100% vegan
The perfect restaurant for all of you who are after a vegan Bavarian experience in Munich. Bodhi will impress you with a rich menu that has something for everyone: gyros, burgers, fried fish and Bavarian classics, such as Käsespätzle, Knödel or Schnitzel.
We advise you to book a table in advance on the restaurant’s website just to secure your spot there.
For budget-travelers & Döner-Kebab lovers
At Kartoffelkönig (literally meaning “Potato King”), you can get the German-Turkish fast-food classic, the famous Döner, as well as Kumpir and various other dishes in vegan style without going broke. For all of you with a sweet tooth, try the dessert menu that’s totally worth it.
Keep in mind that some desserts and a few sauces accompanying the main courses are not entirely vegan, so remember to ask while making your order.
Secret Garden & SOY
The restaurant Secret Garden, originally from Berlin, has opened its doors in Munich offering delicious Asian food with a focus on Sushi within an impressive atmosphere. It can get crowded, though, so make sure to book a table online in advance.
Also, at its sister-restaurant, SOY, you can try mouth-watering dishes from a Vietnamese cuisine which is 100% vegan.
Our tip: credit cards are not accepted at either restaurant, so, remember to bring cash with you or pay with a giro card.
Meet Plänty
Two friends, Tina & Alex, have opened their shop in the heart of Munich at the Altheimer Eck. The concept? A mixture of bakery and sandwich shop, 100% vegan edition.
Plänty opens its doors at 10 AM, sandwiches are available from 11 AM and there’s a daily special, too.
If you’re craving a tasty and quick snack while shopping on Kaufingerstraße, or visiting the old town, this is the place for you.
Emmi’s Kitchen: It’s brunch time
With 3 locations in Munich, Emmi’s Kitchen is an all-time favorite spot. Offering breakfast bowls and burgers, it’s the perfect choice if you’re looking for brunch with laid-back vibes. Try out as many dishes as you can and taste the passion and love with which they were prepared. Did we mention that everything is 100% vegan, too?
